-I consider myself a general photographer with an emphasis in journalistic view points. I currently attend SFSU (San Francisco State University) where I am just starting off my junior year. I am currently double majoring in Asian American Studies and International Relations (rather trying to). Like many I left the romantic time of traditional film for the more practical modern digital age. Although I still shoot a roll from time to time. I base my equipment around the Nikon name and hope to keep it that way until I am forced to switch. I am very much a street photographer in the sense that I don’t go out looking for a certain type of picture, in fact a good percentage of the photos that I take are in mid stride. Yet that doesn’t mean that I don’t take posed photographs at all, I take my fare share of those as well. Hence the general photographer…I do it all…or try to. I will constantly be taking photographs, and will update after everyday of shooting.
-Photography has always intrigued me for reasons that I will try and express in words. We live our lives constantly skimming our past justifying regrets and praising moments of merit. Yet we always seem to focus on the great or the terrible, there is never any grey territory in our memories. What we forget is how simplistically beautiful the mundane and the overlooked really are. Photography allows the capturing of a moment in time that may or may not be remembered and keep that image and everything that goes along with it for as long as we care to care. In this day and age where the consumer digital camera is a household item, the function of art is being lost to the size of hard drives and over exposed flashes. I don’t wish to gain riches from my passion of photography nor do I wish to gain praise of any type, but rather all I wish to accomplish is to change the way eyes see their surrounding world. The obvious may be overshadowing the memorable. As I step down from my soap box all I ask is that you look at my pictures with an open mind and a will to see things from a different prospective.
“A photograph is usually looked at- seldom looked into.”
